DAY 2
ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
i

After breakfast, drive for around two hours to Tarangire National Park from Arusha, stopping along the way for a picnic lunch. You will travel through thriving Masai communities and the broad plains that have come to epitomize the continent of Africa in popular culture. Tarangire National Park has infinite Savannah that is perfect for game drives thanks to its proximity to the Tarangire River.

Since it flows year-round, the river provides critical year-round water for local wildlife, especially during the dry season. The river, which is bordered by acacia and Baobab trees, is frequently visited by the park’s numerous elephants and other herbivores including zebras and antelopes. Have your picnic by the river while keeping an eye out for the local monkey population. The place is easily one of the highlights of our Tanzania safari tours. Stay at the Maramboi Tented Lodge OR SIMILAR for dinner and the night after your afternoon wildlife drive.

DAY 3
TARANGIRE – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
i

Our day of exploration and adventure begins at sunrise, so we will be eating breakfast at the lodge early. We will be traveling through the misty rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where elephants, leopards, and cape buffalo roam free. The Serengeti National Park is roughly a four-hour drive away, but there are some things to do en route, which make the Tanzania safari even more exciting. These activities include:

Oldupai Gorge Museum: It is also known as “The Cradle of Mankind”, honoring the earliest artifacts of human occupation. View breathtaking gorge terrain and learn about the fascinating human journey at the Oldupai Gorge Museum, which houses some of the world’s oldest fossil evidence of human settlement.

Maasai Boma Visit: Pay a visit to a well-known Maasai boma and you may see (and maybe even join in on) a dance performance, see a real Maasai hamlet, and buy some trinkets in the market to take home as a memento.

Explore the Serengeti by car after having lunch at the park’s picnic area. Experience the magnificent savannah beauty of Africa and marvel at the abundance of wildlife. Have supper and stay the night at Serengeti Serena Lodge OR SIMILAR (including breakfast).

DAY 4
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
i

Early game drives in the morning before dawn to start a sunrise game drive. Watch the savannah light up with the rising sun as predators like lions and leopards stalk their prey. To maximize your chances of witnessing the Wildebeest Migration and the Big Five during the safari in Tanzania, you may either go on a morning game drive and return to the lodge for a late breakfast or lunch, or you can leave early in the morning with a breakfast box and a lunch box and go on a full-day game drive.

Before nightfall, return to the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge or a SIMILAR establishment for dinner and overnight accommodations.

Optional: An optional addition to your safari is a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti National Park followed by a champagne breakfast. With the help of your sales representative, you can add this experience to your safari and make it even more memorable.

Upon completing breakfast, guests are urged to depart the accommodation and make their way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you make your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you can go on a game drive and hopefully see some of the species you missed on day two. You will see herds of animals, including migrating wildebeests and zebras, giraffes, gazelles, antelopes, the African elephant, and the king himself, the lion. The group will have dinner and stay the night on the Ngorongoro Crater’s rim or in the adjacent town of Karatu, depending on the quality and style of lodging desired. Included in your stay are meals and lodging at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge OR SIMILAR.

DAY 6
NGORONGORO CRATER – ARUSHA
i

After a hearty breakfast, depart for a game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater, regarded by many as the eighth wonder of the natural world. Having a crater floor of 102 square feet in area and walls that soar to a height of 2,000 feet, this structure is really formidable and a must-watch during the Tanzania safari. The crater is home to more species of wildlife than anywhere else on Earth. You will also find a river, a few bogs, a soda lake full of flamingos that appears like steam from above, a forest, and some open plains.

Due to the high mineral concentration of the volcanic soil and grasses, the huge bull elephants who live there have extraordinarily long tusks. These elephants are the most incredible creatures you will ever come across. Enjoy the comforts of the African Tulip Hotel, or a SIMILAR option, for your stay and delicious meals.

During this time, you might go out and get presents for your loved ones at home. Stop by the local marketplace or one of the area’s many orphanages.
